UCONN has a wonderful history of students dressing up in blackface for MLK parties. stfu UCONN.
They aren’t even criminalizing white folks that take part in racist action, they’re enforcing laws against vandalism and threats of violence.
No, more like criminalizing white folks that take part in racist action and then holding complicit white folks accountable for those around them.
LOL at “criminalizing the white race”
That’s part of the problem. Sexual assault is the least reported crime in existence.
There are many, and they are everywhere. According to the most extensive study ever conducted on rape, by an incredible man named David Lisak, the average acquaintance rapist rapes an average of 6.3 women. A good way to learn more without dying of boredom is Jon Krakauer’s “Missoula”.
I feel like if catching bank robbers or drug dealers relied heavily on testing DNA evidence, it would all have been tested like 25 years ago. Something tells me they would have found the money.
That’s assuming that the suspect’s DNA is actually acquired in the first place, whether through hook or crook.
It’s a lot easier to use the DNA you got from the kit than to play games with the accused’s lawyer to get a DNA sample from them. I don’t think it really works if you just ask them nicely, and you can’t legally just take it.
Surely they don’t need to test the rape kit if they know who the accused is, just enter his DNA into the national database and compare that to the unsolved rapes. That would tell them if he was a serial rapist. As long as his other crimes had been a) reported and b) tested obviously. No need to waste the money testing…
for sure. usually the stuff people share on fb is just random bullshit, so i was like, “yes, something real and meaningful i can do and not feel helpless”.
Everything I’ve read on the nationwide backlog of rape kits says that when they get tested, serial rapists are discovered, so probably a lot. One problem is that some jurisdictions don’t test rape kits when the identity of the accused is known. In these cases authorities may assume it’s simply a matter of establishing…
I’m torn. These women fucking ROCK, but FUCK all those people in a position of authority who decided that the victims weren’t worth the cost and investment, in both the testing and resources. With 652 of these people being serial offenders, we can be assured that more women were targeted and assaulted because these…
Kym Worthy—I’ve never seen a more apt last name for any human being. Ever.
We’re not worthy, Kym Worthy.
Thank you Hillary. This is a story that makes me smile because the badass women are getting shit done. And makes me furious that it has taken badass women who can get shit done, to get shit done because all the fucking men who run shit found a way to get all the weed smokers in jail but not the fucking rapists.
I hate that there’s a need for this, but HELL YES to these women. I want to look up each and every one of their businesses and find ways to support them.
