Never kept any of my cars stock, never will. Well maybe when I’m a geezer. Tho I am at that age now (early 30s) when all my friends are having kids and I’m all like “dude the KWs and JB4 for my 335i came in YEAAA!!” But I digress. Stock is boring. Life is too short.

Mustangs can be calibrated to read “low”, or “high”, or anywhere in between. If they ran an M3 back to back on the same dyno, we can at least get some sort of realistic comparison. Otherwise this is pretty pointless unless they use it as a delta going forward to mod the car.

Thanks for posting that, made me smile. My dad had one of those when I was a kid...a white one too.

CPO 435i would be my vote. You can find them for around $40k all day long. I do like the RC/RC-F as well.

Oh I’ve tried... can’t seem get rid of the BMW without taking a sizable hit unfortunately. Not in the cards I guess :(

I was going to buy an ISF about a year ago. Spent months looking for the right one. Then had a brain cramp and ended up with an F30 335i. My last 3 cars now have been snail powered. Seeing these videos make me realize that I need an NA screamer in my life.

QD CPO in 2020, here I come!

I bought mine in 2006... but I remember going to see the MP3 at the dealer right when they came out after reading about it. I was 15 and couldn’t even drive yet, but I knew I wanted one.

Still my favorite car that I’ve owned, quirks and all. I still visit MSProtege every couple of months out of nostalgia :)

Indeed. Great little cars. Miss my MSP too. Every now and then I see a blue MP3 on my commute to work, can’t help but smile every time.

Local dealer has 8 2017 GTIs in stock that are priced under $20.5k. Look around.

No argument there, especially since you can pick up a base manual GTI for 20k all day long. But I guess let’s see what COBB and/or others do with it.

True, that makes this Nismo look even worse. I do remember when the original Spec Vs came out in 2003 or so. Fun cars. I used to have a highly modified Mazdaspeed Protege in the mid-late 2000's and spanked many of those. Good times.

Disappointing. 188 hp? Come on Nissan. The good ol Sentra spec V had 175 well over a decade ago. There are so many great cars in the $20-25k area and this just doesn’t cut it. For a second there I thought this was a NP or CP article :)

Agreed with some of the others - CP, but not by much. I think 6k is a good price for it. I’ve actually been thinking about one as a DD, but most around here are rusted or beat to hell.

What a great looking build. It sucks to pour a ton of time and money into a project, and have to sell at a big loss. I’ve been there. For me it’s always seemed like once I get the car to where I’ve wanted it for the longest time, I loose interest and want to jump into something else.

$16k is not bad, that’s right around where these are selling currently. For everybody yelling about stock vs modded, finding one that’s been kept stock at this point is going to be difficult.

Not really, there are so many variables. You can’t really compare 2 different cars on 2 different dynos. That’s why you’ll see all sorts of HP ranges from different people. Really the point of strapping your car on a dyno should be to get a baseline, and use the same one to see how you progress as you mod (like the

I hope we see some mods on this thing, similar to the VR4. I see these rolling around here from time to time but they are always stock.

Always had a soft spot for the MKiii. Real shame that the US market was stuck with the hapless 7M for the entire run while Japan got the 1JZ-GTE in 1990. Oh what could’ve been...
