I finished off the Platinum for Control last weekend so started Horizon: Zero Dawn and need to spend most of the long weekend exploring that world. Though that needs to share time with me running through the Farscape series. Just got the new 20th Anniversary BluRays for Christmas. I need to finish up the second season

It’s a wonderful weekend again, so what on earth could be on the plate for me? Strangely I’ve dipped back into Player Unknown’s Battlegrounds. Just like any battle royale, they’ve cribbed their own version of the pinging from Apex and added a new map. Wish I could spend more time with that map to get acquainted

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey thoroughly has its hooks in me. They’ve got that Skinner Box/gameplay loop down to a science. There’s always something right over the horizon to keep me playing after I’ve decided to stop for the night - levelling up, a fancy new weapon, a question mark to turn into something, an upgrade for

Not much news in gaming! I’m still playing FE:3H and enjoying the heck out of it. Final Fantasy XV was also added to Xbox Game Pass recently, and that eventually led to me showing my wife some screenshots of the in-game food. So, because she has a weakness for games that allow you to cook, but I have too little time

This kind of makes me think of Dragon Quest XI and how every time I’d go to a new town and Veronica disappeared, it usually meant I’d find her picking a fight with someone 3 times her size or a kid. She’s pretty great.

I am still playing the Imperial Agent storyline in Star Wars: The Old Republic with my female Zabrak. This past week, we’ve been freezing our ass off on Hoth. I’m still currently acting undercover with the Republic, partially because I haven’t yet fully broken the mind control implant in my spine. It’s close, but I’m

Having just played Pillars of Eternity and read a Chris Avellone interview where he bags on how they handled companions, I have to harp a little on what they got wrong and right about story companions in the game since it may be on topic for this week’s article.

4 rightfully gets criticized for some things (truly bad dialog system, Where’s My Son storyline) but overall I thought it was an impressive leap over FO3. It makes 3 feel like a trial run for what they were wanting to do. FO4's map is just so dense and there’s something new/weird/interesting around every corner.

I’m working my way through the Resident Evil 2 Remake this weekend, and so far it’s just as fantastic as I’d heard. It feels familiar and surprising at the same time, and seeing all these classic environments in glorious modern graphics is pretty damn special. Most of all though, it is SO nice to play, controls

Fallout 3 gets credit for the pent up frustration fans had for not seeing a game in a long time and 4 gets dogged for much of the same problems that 3 gets a pass on. To be fair, Bethesda had almost 10 years to fix bugs in F4 that also existed in F3, but it’s not fair to ding one game for being buggy and ignoring the

You’re not wrong about 4 being better than 3. New Vegas is better than both of them though.

So I’ve got a Switch now, but Mario Odyssey doesn’t arrive till tomorrow, so I’ve just been fooling around with some of the Switch Online stuff- the old NES and SNES packages they have, plus Tetris 99. Still have to settle in.

AhhhhhhhhhhhhHHhhhHhhhhhhhhhhh~!!! What happened to Carbuncle and Baby Chocobo? Is this some secret, strange plot to ruin prominent animal character models from the ‘90s? Was the Sonic film actually a harbinger of doom? Is Yoshi next? Will Yoshi somehow get hot pants and a Mohawk?

Last time I posted here, I made the half-serious comment that Fallout 4 might just be a better game than Fallout 3. And it is so, so very close to being true for me.

Yeah, the suits misread the hell out of that game. And jeez - you reminded me. They did promote the hell out of that MP, didn’t they? I totally forgot about that, and remember thinking it was bizarre at the time. No, we’re here to crack demon skulls, not have our sexuality analysed by BoNgMaStEr420.

Hello all, PB-n-Justice here. My work computer got reimaged the other day, thus removing all my cookies and thus my login to Kinja. A sad day. RIP PB-n-Justice, we hardly knew ye. I hear good things about the sequel: PBnJus2ice: This Is My Jam though! Hopefully the journey out of the grays won’t be super arduous!

I loved Jedi: Fallen Order. But I didn’t love it, maybe even kind of hated it, up until I got double jump. The platforming in that game is just so imprecise that you need the double jump as a crutch. And because there is no New Game+, I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever play it again because I don’t want to go 6ish

Hey!

Heck to the yes on double jumps (and, as you pointed out, grappling hooks). I think my favorite experience with airborne mobility in recent times was likely the early days of No Man’s Sky when a momentum glitch let you hurl your avatar across the surface of strange planets by moving slightly sideways.

Go on. Crack a “Master Chief” joke, kids, I dare you.
