Video Games

Man oh man, what a week it’s been ... in that there just hasn’t been much time for games lately. Too many projects here and there, but what I have run into is the mountain of bullshit around Rocket League, namely the end of its crate system. You’d be awarded crates, those crates would need keys to unlock, and those

Not much to update everyone on, but I’ll still post cause it’s always nice participating in this community. Luigi’s Mansion 3 has ground to a halt. I’m stuck at what is most likely a very simple puzzle, but as it’s right in my face every time I turn my Switch on, I get that lovely combo of bored and low-key frustrated

Thank you. It wasn’t the work with the forklifts that bounced me out, but (ironically, since it’s my career) it was the racing that I struggled to optimize to the necessary win to advance the story. This coincided with a time in my life where my career took priority anyway, but Shenmue, and to a greater extent, the

This week, I returned to the comforting warm embrace of Star Wars: The Old Republic. I’m still doing the Imperial Agent class story as a female Zabrak. I’m still busy destroying the network of the terrorist known only as “The Eagle,” who assassinated Darth Jadus. I’d already taken out the Cyclone drug network on Nar

I picked up a butt load of cheap games on black Friday. Gonna start on Code Vein or Indivisible soon and then move onto Catherine and Borderlands 3. I also picked up Ghost Recon Breakpoint and I’m hoping that game gets some big updates and fixes soon

Hey, that story with the memory card happened to me! Except I was the one who rented the Playstation (for free from the video store I worked at, probably pissing off dozens of people) and didn’t buy a memory card. I did just leave it on all night and buy one the next day, though, so I didn’t lose any play time.

Backlogged: NecroSayonara Edition

For those of you who have not grown old in the service of their hobbies, memory cards were a thing your dad didn’t know to buy you when he rented you a PlayStation in 1997, thus forcing you to play through as much of Final Fantasy VII as humanly possible without ever dying or saving your game.

Salutations~!

Started on Return of the Obra Dinn. I’ve made quite a bit of progress already, and it’s fascinating- a sort of murder mystery, but the major mystery is who everyone is, and piecing the story together as you jump around in time. Great aesthetic, and works the brain in a good way.

Totally underrated game. And I found when reading strategy forums later that the gameplay itself was quite clever as well.. the game just did a terrible job of teaching you how to play it.  From what I remember, you were mainly meant to be directly fighting in merged mode as much as possible, with other units just

Mario Odyssey waits for me to pick it up from the store tomorrow afternoon. After a dinner at a raucous rathskeller downtown, the rest of the weekend is mine for using my sentient cap as my own personal murder device. There will be much rejoicing.

Just finished Trails in the Sky the 3rd, so I have wrapped up the entire JRPG trilogy. These games are fantastic, if you like slow-burn characterization and top-notch world-building. This is a game series from 2004 (and the old school turn-based gameplay is clearly from there) though it was only released in English in

Hooray for binge gaming day, or at least when I have it off.

Yeah, I applaud Schafer’s ambition but the gameplay just didn’t really work as an action/RTS hybrid as well as it should, although I thoroughly loved being able to hop on a special unit and take control with unique special abilities. I especially loved riding around on the Zaulian fire beasts and torching enemies with

I finally bought a PS4 (after finishing the Mass Effect trilogy on my PS3) so I have a bunch of games bought that I need to plow through. Just finishing up Spider-Man now and the DLC episodes. Next I have to decide what to move onto next ... Uncharted 4, Detroit: Become Human or Horizon Zero Dawn. At least until X-mas

Thanks for keeping What Are You Playing This Weekend alive, Will! As for what I’m playing:

This is basic as all goodness, but I picked up my Skyrim save file on my Switch copy.
