Forcing myself to skip over the articles, re: Fire Emblem 3 Houses, as I’m forcing myself to make it through FE: Conquest before buying the bright & shiny new game. Struggled so much with my initial playthrough that I started over...I have kept hitting roadblock after roadblock with the game.

I honestly feel like Doom 3 would have been much more appreciated if it wasn’t called Doom 3, and was rather an adjacent/spin-off franchise. It doesn’t feel like a Doom game for much of the reasons you outline above, leaning too far into horror and away from action.
