Hello all! I’ve been saving up for Cadence of Hyrule and Mario Maker, but as vacation approaches more of my budget has been saving up for that. Soon...

I’ve been playing Gears of War 4 and I’ve been enjoying it a lot. I didn’t play 2 or 3 so maybe I’m losing a bit of backstory with Marcus and his friends but whatever, the gameplay just feels so much better than the first game and the environments have a little more color. I’ll probably finish that up tomorrow.

This week, I’ve basically been a filthy casual. Partially because I’ve been the dutiful husband and pretending to have a social life rather than actual gaming time.

This has manifested as playing a surprisingly large amount of the Harry Potter Wizards Unite mobile game (aka Harry Potter GO!). There’s an event thing

Backlogged: Bananas In My Ears Edition

Been a long time since I posted here. Mostly due to work and my work computer not loading the comments in kinja, but it’s slow today so I can use my phone.

Let’s see your Mario Maker 2 levels, AV Club! I’ve made three so far, all of which have turned out to be pretty challenging, though I’d argue still fair, due to reasonable checkpoints and/or power up placement.

Reading this, I’m really surprised the original Doom games didn’t have a mode where you always started with a pistol, as it really shoes off the design. I was always a bit of a save scummer back then, and it wasn't until I replayed some of the old levels in Doom VFR that I realized how fun this style of play was when

Very, very limited gaming time this week. I’ve barely touched Assassin’s Creed: Origins, but I really don’t think I’ll be playing much of it this weekend. It’s a bit of a drag. Maybe I’m just not in the mood for it, maybe I’m too cynical to play along with its missions that feel a bit like busywork.

Hey Gameologiroos! Hope you’ve all been good. It’s been months since I last posted here. Bunch of reasons, mostly work-related, including my boss deciding, unconscionably, he wasn’t going to work from home on Fridays for a while.

Saints Row 4 is really fun but my brain nearly broke when I realized I could switch on Collectible-mode on the main map instead of having to find them through the mini-map.I spent so long leaping around the map trying to spot collectibles in the corner of the screen.

I've been having a blast with Injustice 2. It's as close as I've come to smashing action figures together with the big and important difference that I also dress them up and mix and match different outfits, just like I did in real life with my decors and figures. The character designs are also very good, even better

I always felt like getting killed and having to start out with just a pistol was an automatic reset, but I had a playthrough a couple years back where I died with a full arsenal in Tricks & Traps, hadn’t saved, didn’t want to start over, but still wanted to continue my playthrough. I didn’t do this every level, but

In terms of the summer sale, I’m most likely to pick up Divinity: Original Sin 2 and Into the Breach. I’m also considering Darkwood, Oxygen Not Included and Obra Din, but I don’t know how much I really want to drop on games that I may or may not play. What I’d really like is Void Bastards, but it’s too new to be part

I will be playing Super Mario Maker 2 this weekend. I know the community here has largely withered away since the advent of Kinja, but I will try to post some level codes like in the good old days.

Yep yep agreed, it’s both awesome and weird to think designers have been essentially tackling the same set of fundamental design issues in world building for over 20 years, just in relatively different scales of funding, team size, and development scope. Like Dark Souls unto the original Castlevania and beyond.

Gonna finish up Bloodstained. I also picked up Gears of War 4 for extremly cheap which includes a code for the other 4 games in the series. I’ve never played these but I guess I'll check them out. I heard good things about 4 so I might just jump into that one first.

A bunch of games were on sale before this week and I’m dealing with a breakup so my coping thing has been buying a bunch of games for some reason? I started Divinity Original Sin, tried Dark Souls again on PS4 (it’s fun but I suck at every FROM game I play), rented Sekiro (I got to that ogre and did not have the time

Not a $1 but with the announcement of Baldur’s Gate 3, I got the itch to revisit the others. They had a bundle of the enhanced editions of BG1 and 2(with all the expansions) Planscape and Icewind Dale for $20.  That’s a lot of hours of gaming for the price

Dipped back into Doom (2016) and completed a good chunk of it, and yeah, this game’s pretty great. Intensely well designed with a really solid difficulty curve- whenever I died it didn’t feel like bullshit. I’ve gotten into Hell proper but feel like I want to jump back into earlier missions and look for collectibles.

Now playing

I watched a trailer for a game called Crossniq+ and I now want a return to Pre-9/11 Y2K Aesthetics:
