Civilization VI: Rise and Fall

As for what I’m playing THIS weekend (and the rest of the week)... well, I really should get back to Hollow Knight. I do want to finish it (at least to check the box for my “Backlog Quest”), and it’s a lovely game in many ways, but... I don’t know if I can handle getting my ass kicked over and over again in such a

What Have You Finished This Week?

Now playing

I mentioned this a few weeks ago, and now that it’s a few weeks later, I’ve finished the Giant Bomb Endurance Run of Chrono Trigger.

Let’s talk about Bloodborne’s Brainsuckers. So these enemies are very strong; their swipes can take chunks of your health. They have a move where they grab you, suck out most of your health and steal a couple of your precious Insight points, and then throw you to the ground with little time to reposition yourself.

So I picked up the newfangled Doom at long last today. Damn it is indeed good. Fights are intense and chaotic and I am not entirely sure what I’m doing but when you win it feels pretty dang awesome.

Now playing

This week I finally finished playing Limbo, my third play session being the shortest and consisting of the last 5 chapters. However the week I didn’t play in between is not reflective of the quality, because just like Inside, PlayDead crafted a wonderfully macabre game with their first outing. It’s a game that is

I’m very much with you. Online games these days rely on private servers, managed networking, and massive server farms for operation - it’s not like the days of Quake and Unreal Tournament, where anyone could host a match! Centralized online will lead us to a “dark age” of games that will simply disappear. Some games,

Really looking forward to the TV Edition of KRZ. In other news, I may putting off schoolwork, but I’m tantalizing close to finishing Cuphead. I tried and failed to resist looking up any walkthroughs, but at this point I just want to finish it so I can play something else. The King Dice level feels like they condensed

Probably something from my days in FFXI so I’ll go with this:

Yay! Keyboard Geniuses thread is back for 2018! Thanks for the shout-out!

Based on my own personal experience (and little else), I do feel like many people forget to do active leisure wherein they make something though.

Two currently:

I have this montrous old 21 inch CRT TV that I’ve shlepped around every time I moved for one purpose: Time Crisis 2.

Hey, cool! Unfortunately my post has a terrible typo in it that Kinja wouldn’t let me edit. Thanks Kinja! The first “for” should be deleted in:

I got RPG Maker Fes before I went on a work trip last week. I have almost no idea what I’m doing, but I’m having a really fun time designing maps. I’ve only barely attempted to script events and so far it seems like there will be a LOT of trial and error. I think I may need to watch some videos or something, but at

Hooray! Welcome back, everyone! Thanks, Matt, for also adding all the “external” community programs we have. It means a lot that you support our endeavors that don’t directly feed back into ad revenue for the site, but indirectly keep us coming back for your great springboards into thought.

Hey folks, it’s time for Merve’s Alternative Weekend Prompt (MAWP). Inspired by one of the discussions in this thread (and the fact that the Kinja-fied A.V. Club lets us embed images), what’s your favourite video game screenshot that you’ve taken? Feel free to share the story behind it as well.

A couple of months ago I went on a bit of a stealth/sniper kick, so I put a bunch of that kind of game on my Steam wishlist and waited for sales. I managed to get the Sniper: Ghost Warrior trilogy for $4, which includes 2008's Sniper Art of Victory and its spiritual sequels, Sniper: Ghost Warrior and Sniper Ghost
