There it is! Been a while since I’ve seen these. Glad to see another one of your very well-written Magic posts.

On the docket for this weekend:
I beat Super Mario World for the first time in at least a decade, and if you haven’t played it in a long time, it’s even better than you think you remember. I thought maybe I was remembering it through the lens of nostalgia, but even on this 100% playthrough, there was never a moment where the quality dipped below…
I played some of the beta for Dragon Ball FighterZ, and man, what a gorgeous game visually. Granted, I could only play the training due to the online being overloaded at the time, but I still had a lot of fun basically playing an anime. Brought me back to my Guilty Gear X-2 days and my DBZ days at the same time.
It’s been a rough week. I’ve been sick since Monday, and these days when I get sick, it’s never one of those one-and-done type deals; I’ll have trouble breathing, my nose will get stuffed up, and I’ll be hot and cold for days. Exhausted too. So I was looking for escapism, and ended up spending most of my time when I…
Kentucky Route Zero!
Not much to report, just playing more Breath of the Wild and Dragon Ball Fighterz. In Zelda I found a miniature golf course that I’m pretty sure I didn’t find on my normal mode playthrough, but it looks like the only reward is rupees. I also broke her record for shield surfing and my reward was... a knight’s shield?…
Finished Nier Automata a few nights ago and opted for Route C. I liked a lot of the ideas the game put forth and every so often it would have these little bursts of something meaningful but it was buried in too much bland video game sameness for me. Somebody here (shin?) warned me not to expect too much from the story…
Are the “interstitial” portions of KRZ available when you buy the game? I’m looking forward to getting it when I get a Switch, but curious if these pieces are part of the experience, as they seem to add to the overall narrative. Can’t wait to play it from start to finish later this year!
This weekend, I’ll be juggling Celeste, Monster Hunter World, and SPACEPLAN.
First things first: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the 8th returns next Thursday night! We’re trying a concentrated single hour, so show up on time (8PM Central) and join us for two wheel-only hijinx!
This weekend I’m playing Celeste and Xenoblade Chronicles 2. In the former, I’ve wrapped up the game and am working my way through the b-sides. So far, I’ve completed the first two bonus levels and am eagerly anticipating the third. The tension definitely ramps up in these remixed stages, but it remains surmountable.
Last week I was talking about Star Trek and Stellaris, and get rather enthusiastic about Elite:Dangerous as well. Sometimes, it feels like I just talk about endless space games on here too much...
I will continue my quest to wear the skins of majestic creatures in Monster Hunter World. Capcom’s commitment to building a lush, detailed world with a superficially plausible (let’s not discuss the evolutionary science here) ecology really is, in my mind, what sets Monster Hunter apart from the few games bold enough…
This weekend I’ll keep trucking in Mario. Haven’t had much time to play the past week as I’ve gone back to work after being off with my wife and son. I’m in the moon! The physics there are pretty fun. Platforming perfection.
Been playing Transistor. As someone who thought Bastion was overrated, I have to say..
Work is finally picking up again (a lot) after a few slow weeks, so my insanely ambitious “one game a week” resolution (a.k.a. Backlog Quest) has taken a fairly serious hit recently. So I’m still working on Deponia (making decent progress, but still kind of in a love/hate relationship with this game) and, in theory, Ho…
It’s gonna be an indie weekend for the Switch, with Celeste, Crypt of the Necrodancer, and Night in the Woods. I mentioned in this site’s review of Celeste that it’s one of my new favorite games, not just for the system but in general, and so I’m eagerly diving into exploring it to find its many secrets. Also, I went…
I’m very, very slowly making my way through Deus Ex. Very slowly both in the sense that I don’t have much gaming time, and also in the sense that I’m really trying to avoid killing NSF people (MJ12, by contrast, get shot on sight). I’m currently underneath the airfield, at the point where it’s overtly clear that…
Salutations~!
