What am I playing this weekend? DOOM, is what. I just grabbed the Switch version, along with Wolfenstein: the New Order (and “The Old Blood”* along with it). I’ll probably play a bit in handheld mode, but it’s kind of just exciting to see a hyper-violent id Software game on Nintendo hardware. I also “eagerly” await

Going to top this off with a question since most of you will be embroiled in Thanksgiving next week:

Salutations~

Won’t be playing anything this weekend cause I’m going on one of those filthy outdoor activities. However, I took the day off Monday to recuperate so I will be continuing with Wolfenstein: The Old Blood or starting up a new game, maybe Horizon: Zero Dawn?

I’ve mostly been reading Tabletop RPG starter sets this week. I started with the free PDF of the newish Star Trek Adventures RPG, and was impressed enough to plunk down 15 bucks for the full PDF Rulebook. I even wrote a character and ship creation process up on my blog (which I can’t seem to link via mobile Kinja, but

That’s a very insightful and succinct description of not just playing while under the influence, but being hooked on a game in general: when it goes beyond trying to do well or further your progress and just becomes about playing in general....

If Twitch Plays Pokemon counts (as a fan created extension to pre-existing assets), then my vote’s 100% for Twitch Plays Pokemon. Featuring an attendance of anonymous players routinely numbering in the tens of thousands on a daily/weekly basis NONSTOP, everyone ostensibly worked to achieve victory for the young

Ah, ok! I misunderstood and thought you were talking about me. I think what you’re suggesting is fine, again, as long as it’s not truly forced. Sometimes rails are good for a party, but the more they have played the less good they are (as I’m sure you know, I’m not telling you anything you don’t already know.) So if

Sigh, won’t be doing much gaming in the next at least week, am going out of town to see my son who recently turned 6, and assuming he hasn’t somehow deleted the save, will be playing through some Jak and Daxter HD collection on the PS3 I got him last year, I don’t remember where I left off but I think I was just about

Fair. Maybe instead of running an actual encounter in Shadowfell, a monster notices them and gets within spitting distance of them before everything shifts back into the material plane. That way they realize that they didn’t get out of Shadowfell on their own, it was simply a blip. Then they’re left on a good

Good stuff! I am definitely taking notes and inspiration from this. My basic ideas for those dungeons were, as already mentioned, insane trickster in a twisted funhouse. (somewhat leaning into Haunted Carnival without being one...probably.) My ideas for tempest are much vaguer - my initial thoughts for that ‘dungeon’

I finally wrapped in Horizon Zero Dawn and damn if that isn’t one of the best made games of the last five years. Story line, combat, world building were all a treat and the mix of heavy combat and stealth were pretty well done. I’ll wait for a big sale on DLC before picking up the Frozen Wilds expansion.

We’ve all seen this at some point:

I keep reading that SD3 is the pinnacle of the series, but Final Fantasy Adventure, Secret of Mana and even Legend of Mana are all good if flawed games.

They are definitely tainted in how they represent things. The light domain henchdude was tainted to be more like twilight, you hit that nail exactly on the head. My thoughts for the trickery dungeon / villain is a twisted funhouse run by an insane jester, they run the like, though I am always open to suggestions!

Still playing through Mario Odyssey! An absolute delight, still. I beat it last Friday and my thoughts were confirmed - the post-game content more than made up for the campaign. Of course the campaign was very good! But as I mentioned, the pacing was so quick I felt rushed, almost like the game was asking me to get

So did everybody see the footage of the new Overwatch hero?! I’m really interested to see how Moira fits into the larger structure of the game. Her short-range conical healing and tethered attack, plus the tethered nature of her orbs makes me feel like she’d perform best in tight spaces or with a really close

I downloaded and played the first hour or two of MGS V and basically saw that all the criticisms were true. Nice tight gameplay, and a seemingly hollow, unneccesarry story. And what’s a Metal Gear game without Story?

I’ve been playing Rise of the Tomb Raider, and it’s really fun. This is my first Tomb Raider game ever, new or classic, and it is not nearly as puzzle-blighted as I feared. Back in the day, a friend of mine showed me a bit of Tomb Raider 2, I think, which involved some incomprehensible room with some boxes, and then
