Many contemporary reviewers could do with beginning to understand not everything is necessarily intended for them personally. Plenty of effort exerted in sounding smarter than the film makers - zero effort in objectivity/empathy for the actual target audience.

When I inevitably see this movie, and the Iron Giant comes on screen, I’m going to turn to the person next to me, and say in a very loud whisper “That’s Chappy.”
