The Tilly/May relationship felt rushed, because they went from this tense irritation and borderline anger to, “I understand you better than anything in the whole universe!” which would have had me whiplash if I hadn’t already kind of checked out by that point. I’m fine if that’s what they wanted to do with their bond,

Yeah, I’m at a bit of a disadvantage, since I only ever played Civ V once as far as the industrial era and not further, and that was before its first expansion. I really could not get into that game, and I even gave it a couple more tries after both expansion packs were released, and just had to decide it wasn’t for

I really enjoyed the culture additions to Civilization VI and the deeper interactions with “great people”. Developing concertos, art, and literature for you to display and experience embodied this sense of success and celebration of some of our species’ greatest works.

Lindsey Graham has been my Senator for the entirety of my adult life, having been elected into office a month before I turned 18. During that time I had to deal with everyone around me marveling at what a moderate he was, and how committed he was to bipartisanship, all while he helped drag us into a pointless war,

It’s really soothing to be in the Grassy Plateaus biome and watch and listen to the Reefbacks lumbering through.

There’s something worth knowing here that I’m not seeing your article or in the comments, probably just because it’s been bigger news here in South Carolina than in the rest of the country.

What’s my name?

I’ll occasionally break out UR A G Old Flag in a strong Kennedy voice (like when we were watching The Right Stuff), but rarely make it more than 3 seconds in before my wife threatens to murder me.

Summer time lovin, lovin in the summer (time) is objectively the funnier song on Regular Show, but I have a soft spot for Party Tonight as a close second.

I’ve been doing a deep dive into the Apollo Program lately. I don’t think I had ever realized how fortunate we are that Armstrong was the first to walk out onto the Moon’s surface. Afterwards he was mostly nonchalant and humble about his achievement, always quick to credit the hundreds of thousands of other people

I remember when I was between the ages of 7 and 9 I was all into the old Aliens actions figures that came out starting in 1992. Weird for a movie that came out 6 years prior and wasn’t Star Wars. This was the first figure I got along with the Power Loader.

With enemies you know where they stand, but with neutrals? Who knows!

It sickens me.

I totally agree, and that’s the stuff in Discovery I like the best: that utopia takes work and perseverance. I just feel this season went through a lot of narrative messiness to make that point.

The brothel was just there to ensure that if the characters failed to Earn Their Happy Ending, they would at least earn their happy ending.

That [the show] chooses to end on an inspirational note is important.

I like that the Discovery’s bridge crew is sortof a stand-in for the audience.

What about Eisenhower? That’s not a suggestion, I’m sincerely asking someone to explain it to me; was he a good or bad president? I know a lot about 20th Century history, but Eisenhower’s administration is this weird blind spot for me.

Ha, whoops! I’ll say I had a friend read the comment, and he thought I was being serious too.

Geez, I hope that last point isn’t the case. I was kind of glad that they left a lot of that behind when they made Discovery. They replaced it with more disturbing, gratuitous violence and coerced consumption of sapient beings.
