The music during the opening titles is just amazing. I have always loved the score to Finding Nemo; "warm" is probably the most succinct way to describe it. It's cello- and bass - heavy, which hints at the sound of music underwater, too. Just all around perfect for the film.

I've always thought he should have had Roy Scheider's role in Marathon Man. Scheider is so weirdly bad in his scenes with Olivier that I just assumed that something happened in editing. Devane's character needs that sort of "menacing salesman" feel to it, though. He's definitely one of the highlights.

I thought Doom 3 was pretty cool with the flashlight mod (now that I have an Oculus Rift, I want to load it up again), but god damn I miss insanely fast FPS games like Doom and Quake. I cranked up the speed when I ran servers because the default speed felt a little too pokey. More recent games are just so slow— this…

I watched it in 2D at 1.5x speed so I could get through it more quickly, and it gave me a headache, too. I was so annoyed with the cliche narrative and "LOOK HOW WEIRD STUFF LOOKS WEIRD!!!111!" of it. It was a total waste. The Disney cartoon version was weirder and more surreal.

If you can find certain old FM transmitters, they were permitted to be stronger. Now they're pretty castrated (at least that's what I've been told). I probably spent more time trying to find stations to get music on than actually listening to anything. Fucking pieces of shit!

I also buy CDs so I can rip them at whatever quality I'd like (if sound quality is an issue with the album at all). And, well, there are just some bands whose CDs I like to have. I'll probably just open them to rip them and load them onto whatever and then put them on a shelf, but, yeah. They're nice to have!

The worst thing about the Oculus Rift is the publicity photos of slack-jawed morons wearing the headset. I haven't gone slack-jawed with mine… but I guess if someone said, "hey, put this on and look amazed, but remember that we can't see your eyes…" the model is really out of options.
