I am going to go ahead and plug a woman I had the pleasure of meeting who is a lingerie designer out of MedellĂn, Colombia. She does a great job of creating beautiful pieces that value a woman's body FOR THE WOMAN WEARING THE PIECES, and don't attempt to cater solely to the male gaze.

@LLisCool: Then maybe you should attempt to take it up with Jenna, not with me.

@PancakeParade: Thanks for helping me figure out why I continue to find "fat" so offensive - you are 100% right - people conflate "fat" and "lazy" and "disgusting" all the time.

@LLisCool: Because you are trying to underscore a point that EVERYONE looks better naked. Why reference one particular group? It's redundant, and in this case, it is the direct cause of all the hubbub over his quote, which may or may not be being misconstrued here on Jez.

@PancakeParade: I don't know. When I was at my heaviest, being called "fat" and "chubby" was far more insulting to me than being called curvy (though I realize "curvy" means different things to different people).

@sekushinonyanko: I don't really care what society thinks about what I wear. If I feel good in it, I don't give a fuck what other people think. Anyone who wants to judge me for wearing too-tight clothing may do as they wish, but I am allowed to think that that is superficial.

@PancakeParade: That could be. I also don't love thin male designers referring to a woman as "fat" and not "plus sized" or "curvy". Fat is much more perjorative, I think, unless you are using it to self-describe.

@LLisCool: That is a lot more descriptive then "huh?".

@LLisCool: I am sorry you did not understand what I said. Not sure what else to say.

@tinypuffin: I read the original passage from which the quote was taken, and it still rubbed me the wrong way. If he meant to imply that everyone looks better naked, then why include a specific reference to "fat women".

@Madge: It is not up to you (even as a self-described "large gal"), or Tom Ford, or anyone else to decide which clothes are "too tight" and "not a good look" for a woman of ANY proportion. If it makes you feel good, you should be able to wear it without facing superficial judgment from other people.

I am picturing Tom Ford's Craiglist Room/Shares listing:

@Cimorene: I hope you wield an anti-patriarchial chainsaw that spits out misogynist-melting plasma!

@pastanaut: I am conjuring up images of Jeff Spicoli.

@crotchety: I know what "radical feminism" is. I just dislike the term. It wasn't a question of whether the term exists or not.

I dislike the juxtaposition of "radical" and "feminist". That terminology just propogates the idea that women who support women's rights are crazy, militant bitches.

@Ligaya Lucero: Are you kidding me? It was a joke about the post prior to this in which Chelsea Handler called her a homewrecking cunt. That is why I put it in quotes. Christ.

@Miz X: No...NO. That did NOT happen. I am so glad I left before that area becomes another Williamsburg.
