Yep! We bought “less home” than we could afford and are busting out butts to pay it off early. I started teaching at 22. I agree with that last part :) For the first part, I’d argue you should buy what you can afford now, not later.

And this number should be the ceiling, not a number that the realtor shoots for. Like buying a car, you don’t tell the salesman how much you have to spend.
