I started to discuss this with you because no one had engaged you in what seemed like a serious way. I’m not trying to say that you’re making a facile comparison, just going a little farther into the conversation (probably shouldn’t have made the insult joke).

I’m not claiming expertise, either. I was asking, because I’m always interested in risk comparisons. I realize that develpment of nuclear weapons is closely related to the development of nuclear power, but when we consider that, the number of deaths associated with nuclear power rise (not just because of the two

I’ve enjoyed this hilarious back-and-forth, but I have a serious question about the comparisons (which is somewhat hypothetical). First, I have to lay out some qualifications, though, to really root how hypothetical I’m being.

I noticed this and thought the exact same thing.

Sorry about that. I’d still say read it, though.

Ann Leckie loves getting bogged down in songs and ceremony. Wait until Ancillary Sword. She really gets into the weeds in that one. Still liked it, but Justice was better.

I thought that ASoIaF was this long because world building needed this kind of build up, until I read The Left Hand of Darkness. Then I learned that you can have a super detailed and alien world (with crazy winters) in under 400 pages. It has intrigue that is subtle in a way that Martin won’t ever get.

Are they? (ETA: if my Game of Thrones image doesn’t come up, just imagine it)

Replace Yoda, he shall...

It wasn’t my idea...

True, but if so, the act should probably be one of the culminating moments of the movie (especially if they’re going for surprise value). In that case, they’ve dropped a hint that R2D2 shows up at the very end (which I buy).

Well, except to shoot him in the arm...

With the way Star Wars loves its parallels, don’t you think they’ll wait until the next movie before she loses her hand?

The longer they hold off, the more excited everyone will get. We know he’s there, they’re just really good at the suspense game.

My son and I recently listened to The Fantastic Mister Fox as read by Roald Dahl. He had the ultimate old man voice, coupled with an enthusiasm that made it magical!

Stereolithography was one of the first forms of 3D printing. It used two intersecting lasers in a bath of heat sensitive resin. I believe that it could print without supports, as well. It’s cool technology, but access to it is cooler.

Didn’t mean to be argumentative, Moto X would still be my choice.

I really like the Moto X (although I don’t have it), but you can’t include price in your argument when it’s clearly (a little) more expensive. It’s just disingenuous.

If you want to be really bummed out about this, Hawksbills were extensively hunted because their shells are the “tortoise shell” that was used for glasses, combs, etc. until plastics to simulate it could be developed. Stupid reason.

If Exxon had made this data public, it might have caused more people to take the concern of climate change seriously, because they have a strong mouthpiece. In addition, the (US) government might have moved to reduce oil subsidies, making petroleum based products (those listed in the second half of your post) more
