I still think that this part of the movie was a perfect jewel.

I think they’d have put Kirk in uniform, though.

Cigarette Smoking Man from the X-Files

Yes. A damn fine cup of coffee.

Snow Crash is a book that knows exactly when not to take itself seriously (which is most of the time). It is super fun.

What I wouldn’t do for a bit of Fry and Laurie!

I think that this is an extremely strong analysis. However, I think that it’s not bad movies that have people confusing narrators (or any lens through which the reader/viewer sees the world) with protagonists. This is something that you actually have to learn through various genres and through analysis beyond just

Main character shouldn’t be confused with narrator. Max gives us a perspective on a great character. He is, of course, totally critical, but he isn’t playing the chief role. Furiosa breaks the wives out, starting the story. She sets the goal of getting to the Many Mothers. Max is the lens through which we see her.

Again, it’s better than I had with higher speeds over cable. I think that Comcast(in my area) is a weak ISP. I wouldn’t want to download a ton of large files at my current speed. I do a few, but not a lot. My current provider offers gigabit for $89/month, so if I ever need to bulk up, it’s available.

It’s why I mention that I’m on fiber. I had Comcast, previously. With 25Mbps download, I was having much worse results. My new ISP is just better.

I double checked it. 5 Mbps. I used to have Comcast at 25 Mbps and had huge lag and lots of buffering. I did a fair amount of research into appropriate download speed for streaming HD and found most of the info said that 5Mbps would handle HD streaming and Skype, so I figured I’d try a slower service through a local

Just me, which seems (based on small research) to be about right for 5Mbps for streaming HD.

I have fiber internet at 5 Mbs and never have buffering on HD Netflix/Youtube. Largely, they’re trying to upsell to something that people don’t need. Comcast needs to work on consistency of their (shitty) network.

I stream HD with 5Mbs (fiber). There’s never a hitch. Our fiber provider offers gigabit at $89, but it’s just not necessary for most consumer use.

Waves break when they reach water that is half their total depth. This means that a 26 meter wave would break in 13 meter deep water. In many places, this is pretty far off the coast, but where it isn’t, the seafloor is steeper (going right up on to land) causing less of the surge to make much landfall.

Well, I’m not quite that old (it was released in 1964, I think) and I don’t know if kids hate “Let it Go”, but I think I’ll still agree with you.

As a child, this was the first song I ever hated.

A couple of points on that: Even though lifespans have increased consistently since the 1940’s (when the current “traditional retirement age” of 62 was established), about half of people are retired by 62. This, even though most expect to retire at 66 or older.

Don’t they use the Chitauri in Avengers? Those are Skrulls.

That feels like a stretch. But that doesn’t mean he’s not descended from a Jedi...
