If they think it will get enough butts in seats, they probably don't care if it doesn't advance the story. They can always post-rationalize by claiming that it would add depth.

I'm pretty sure that he'd jump for it. The issue that I see is that they keep saying that Qui-gon is a character, which implies that he's a younger Obi-wan. I think he would be great as an older (but not quite "Old Ben") character.

I think you should add a number for energy consumption in there. They'd obviously use more fuel than a land-based car.

A small note: Marvel owns the television rights to Spider-man. They could totally put him on TV within the MCU. Of course it wouldn't spin into a movie, but it might be an opportunity to get more chips on the table.
