Personally, (and I guess this needs to be said) I supported Kaepernick’s decision to not stand as a form of protest. It was subtle, poignant, and about as far away from “attention seeking” as one can get. Honestly, the only reason it got so much media coverage was because people who disagreed with him wouldn’t shut up

than a guy who once was a few botched playcalls away from winning the Super Bowl

They already had it in the first movie. It was just, you know... parked. In the background.

Co-opting? Marginalizing? Hate crime?

“DC’s historic, first female-led superhero movie”

I feel physically ill

I’ve literally never heard Vulcans = Japanese, klingon = Middle Eastern, Ferangis = Jewish before.

If you ascribe the ethnic group with certain stereotypical traits, then look at it from that lense, maybe, but first you need to start with a racist viewpoint.

No, Star Trek was filmed *during* the Vietnam War, not before. It was a long war and you see various allusions to it and the Cold War throughout the series. The early episode with the Organian Peace Treaty is a clear critique of American values. The Klingons in that episode (their first appearance, I believe) were

He was sentenced to 5 years of PROBATION, not jail. Standard sentence for first timers. I got the exact same sentence for stealing something from an open garage in 1980. I’m white and I was 15 at the time. Restitution, weekly or monthly trips to the P.O., etc.

Lighten up. It’s a bit of tongue-in-cheek cross-promotion not a war on women.

I cannot fucking stand mobile cash-ins, especially ones that make kids sit through ads in exchange for recharges/credits. If a kid loves Cars 3 so much that their parents can buy them a full, proper video game for it, then awesome.

Trump gave up more intel in 5 minutes with the Russians than John McCain did in 5 years of torture from the North Vietnamese.

When the gender is unknown in Spanish, you generally just use the masculine suffix. Latino, by definition, is gender neutral. Latinx is just flagrant Newspeak and any arguments for it are specious at best.

This.

Luke, I generally enjoy your work, but I’m done with cosplay posts. Just like I stopped clicking anything from “Post a Top 10 video with no other text” Sploid, I’m finished with giving clicks and ad eyeballs to a post that’s just a bunch of screencaps from a video or slideshow reposted with zero in the way of

I love scrolling through these cosplay picture posts, but I wish they listed who the characters were so I could Google and find more pictures or the game/anime/whatever they’re from.

Here’s a picture of the new ship:

I’ve been requesting notations on the character for a few years now here, and nobody ever answers my question. It’d be incredibly helpful to know who is dressed as what, because even with vast nerd knowledge, I’m not hip to every fandom out there. Sometimes these are incredible designs but I’m left just shrugging

I wish kotaku’s cosplay posts included character/source in addition to model/photographer. For casual observers like myself, the character is more important knowledge to me than who took the picture. (While obviously citing credit is incredibly important, especially in media)

You know what else is too complex for its own good? This INFINITE SCROLL BULLSHIT on all the I Can’t Believe It’s Not Gawker sites.
