Yeah, the two are actually pretty similar in the way they operate. Granted, I've only seen the first season of Game of Thrones but both use the tropes of their respective genre to set up a situation where readers and viewers think they know what to expect and what the characters are up against before ripping it from

I see. I don't listen to The JV Club so that's why I've missed it.

It's taking the galaxy by storm!

I get that. I prefer the older stuff too but if we're stuck with the "Moon Knight is at least a little insane" thing, then I prefer this to Bendis' "He has the Avengers in his head!" nonsense.

I did not know this and now I need to know everything about this because Gourley and Fun Buns Lund are the best.

I can't argue that the Doombots sort of undercut Doom's supposed competence but they're so funny to me. They're always fucking up or taking over or claiming to be the real Doom and Victor's stuck claiming something along the lines of "Bah, this was my plan all along!" to cover.

I could listen to Scott Snyder and Scott Aukerman tell stories about working at Disney World all day.

Nothin' but good ol' folks there, not a bunch of bestiality practicin', incestual deviants, no sir.

I think Doom at least has an out more times than not because there have been so many stories where it's established that he's lying about his backstory or about his emotions. I mean, all of Triumph and Torment depends on that idea, that Doom manipulates his audience's sympathies and reaps the benefits of an illusion

He's a tough sell and I guess I never really understood why. I think some of it may be a lack of an authorial voice. Moon Knight's always been more of an artist showcase than anything and maybe that doesn't work as well for some readers. Who knows. He's definitely one of my perennial faves though.

I think you're right. He's so clearly Starlin's favorite that he ends up being humanized a little too much for my taste. I end up feeling like he's more of a sympathetic character than a cosmic being who once literally wiped out 50% of life in the universe. That weakens him considerably.

I think he's written some great comics but some astoundingly bad ones have gotten released in the midst of those.

Outcast definitely suffers from that as well.

See, I think the big twist is kind of genius because, although it's not super original and has been used in other media, Kirkman's given you no real reason to suspect it's coming. It's designed to be as big of a gutpunch to the reader as it is to the characters.

I have had Twitter conversations with him many times. He's one of my favorite creators.

It's more fluff than crunch, definitely reminding me of the old Ed Greenwood Forgotten Realms stuff. I could see adapting it pretty easy to Mutants and Masterminds, GURPS or D20 Modern/Future.

"I AM THE TIGER FORCE AT THE END OF ALL THINGS AND I AM TOTALLY FINE TO DRIVE GIVE ME MY KEYS, GODFREY ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME, I'M FINE."

It wouldn't be a Civil War comic unless a black guy died for literally no reason.

According to good ol' Axel Alonso, Hercules is straight.
