"What is a man, just a miserable pile of gimmicks."
*WEDGIE*
The only ones I have are the X-Statix, Rick Remender Punisher run and Secret Warriors. I really like having everything conveniently in one volume but they can kind of be a bear to actually crack open and read.
The recurring bit of "The support group has asked us to work out our problems" was really funny. Seth Morris is one of my favorite podcasters out there and his weird little world in Affirmation Nation has been a lot of fun. Even when he has a relatively normal guy like Huebel's bank teller, things still get weird ala…
Both of the New York episodes last week were really fun. The Wyatt Cenac/Ben Bailey ribbing was really top notch.
The repeated mispronunciations of Cameron killed me on this episode. JW Stillwater has really rapidly jumped up my list of favorite CBB characters with Don Dimelo, Wompler, Bob Ducca and R. Schrift.
She's a really game improviser with solid chemistry with PFT. Still, she's funnier and more natural on appearances on shows like WTF.
There were episodes that were so good but I dropped The Canon almost immediately. I loved their discussions of "Forrest Gump" and "It's a Wonderful Life" but Faraci's tendency to take every discussion as a personal attack with an invitation to retaliate really turned me off the whole thing. Even Matt Gourley's…
Such a fun couple issues. I love the idea of a noir-y Doop like I love few things.
The Dead Girl mini is pretty essential. If you don't have the Wolverine/Doop miniseries by Darwyn Cooke, you should probably look for it too.
If Voume 4 is the "Avenge the Earth" storyline, then yes it does and it's probably the best arc of the book. You're pretty ok skipping the AXIS stuff..
This seems like a reasonable statement that I'm sure lots of people on the internet would really like to argue.
Those are really top tier old person candies.
That's where I've seen it too! How did this become a discussion again?
You kind of have to read these issues at least. They've been very preoccupied with the legacy of power in Gotham City and the fall of icons. I think it works but obviously some people were not as big of fans.
EXTREME SPOILERS to add on
I reread Pax Americana 3 times before I started to be able to put the timeline together and I've probably read Ultraa Comics 7 or 8 times and I'm still finding new stuff in it. There's certainly no shame in going back to his work, especially his denser books like Multiversity.
Sticking the landing better than Death of the Family is not a particularly high bar to clear.
Marvel's movies have increasingly all felt sort of the same to me. I've liked them for the most part but it's still a lot of white dudes interacting with CGI and chasing poorly defined McGuffins. I liked Winter Soldier a lot but that was mostly for the practical effects more than anything else. A random Ed Brubaker…
I feel like I'm seeing them out of obligation at this point. My favorite part of these characters and these universes are the parts that I've read in comics for years, not the ones that make it to the screen.
