Anything that really angers Tumblr's weird Bucky fandom always bring me a bizarre sense of not-entirely ethical joy.

Some of them handled it really well. I thought the Daredevil one was done pretty artfully as well.

It's more about the idea of eternal conflict and the consequences of a cycle of violence. It doesn't deal with the themes of Original Sin at all.

I don't think my point about Mina being treated as less than human was clear. In my perception, the scene after Mina and Quartermain have sex and her secret is revealed, I've always perceived this as a reference to him seeing her as damaged, particularly sexually. I think this is corroborated by the sequence in

I would like Volume 2 a lot better if it weren't for how casual it is about attacking Mina's character, branding her as less than human because of her being assaulted by Dracula and being raped by Invisible Man and the use of sexual assault in what I believe is intended to be a "heroic" moment. If it weren't for that,

Ales Kot's Winter Soldier uses the "Man on the Wall" just as a set-up. After that, it's the bizarre statement on violence, fate and the future that you would expect from Kot and is definitely worth your time.

The first volume of League is pretty fantastic. He squanders a lot of that good will almost immediately after.

The way Fraction and Ward have used dialogue and narration differently for the Olympus story and Odyssia's story is fascinating to me. It's a series I really like digging into, partially because of how much twisting you can do with the Odyssey and still keep the myth intact.

I still don't understand how Secret Wars works but I don't think Marvel has really explained it yet.

It can't possibly have as much sexual assault or barely defensible racism so that's a plus.

This is probably more accurate.

I've really loved ODY-C as well. The fourth issue is on the top of my pile of comics to read this weekend.

I knew as much but it's hard not to associate with the DaVinci Code at this point.

Always glad to help out the sleep deprived.

I liked the precision of Lark's art in the first Volume, mostly the way he used paneling to put the reader into Forever's mind. Everything is precise. Everything is in balance. That sense of style and authorial intent kept me in the first arc.

Can't wait to be the Nick Cage figure in your life.

Yes, everything is awful.

I wrote about it a bit last week but my feelings haven't really changed. Futures End either changed so much from conception to execution or failed so hard in its execution that it became a muddled mess no one could solve in the final issues. What started with a fine set-up ended with a whimper that I would be

Yep. Adventures of Superman is the recently cancelled digital-first series. I read a handful of issues and liked it quite a bit. I might get back to it at some point.

I don't even particularly care for Spider-Man and it's hard to argue against Spider-Man No More being among the best comics Marvel has ever published. Such a perfect, profoundly sad issue for both readers and characters.
