According to an interview with JJ (one in which he purposely said that Finn and Rey’s last names have been withheld on purpose) he says that Phasma’s name has a purpose and a reasoning that makes sense.

I read an interview from Star Wars Celebration where Hamill and Abrams stated that the dialogue was re-recorded entirely...so I’m not sure why they’d keep it as “has” and not had if they were rerecording it.
Actually, the fact that he says “has” and the fact that both Mark Hamill and JJ said that the dialogue from the teaser was freshly recorded (not take from JEDI as some thought)...probably means something.

If you look in close up shots of the staff, the ends are IDENTICAL to the emitters for the blades on Darth Maul’s Dual bladed saber (like completely identical). At a guess, this means that the staff, has more than one function...
