I used to work in a detailing shop. The shop owner always remind us “Bring disposable gloves, steering wheel condoms, and disposable seat cover!” when customers requested us to pick up their cars instead of they drop the car to us.

It is actually a decent car at the time. 4A-GE GTi Corollas are alot more fun to toss around than most people would expect. However, it was overshadowed by the Civic hatchback of the same era (which is hell alot better!).
I live in a HOA community with no street parking (My HOA rules regarding on working you own cars are more flexible than many of the cases I read on this site, but rules are definitely there). I work on my own cars in my garage and run my own detailing business in my garage over the weekend. Life can be miserable…
Personal perspective. I prefer buying an older car that I actually wanted and spend extra money on maintenance and repairs, instead making payment on a new car that is not my first choice.
