The cheap crappy software is easily found by almost any anti-virus and malware tool. The nicer more expensive stuff is very hard to find. If the person setting it up left the default configurations you can usually press the key combination that brings up the software and see if a window pops up asking for a password.

In a work environment it is best to assume you are always being watched. Even if software such as these aren’t employed most IT departments can pull up your browsing habits. One of the places I work has a web content filter that can pull up any and all browsing you do and even keeps records of how long you stay on
