A shout-out to Mark Mothersbaugh’s work on the score for this episode. I rarely notice the scoring, probably because the cast is usually talking a mile a minute over it, but the driving strings underscoring the extended sequence where Colin Robinson discovers and then enters and investigates the hidden room was some

Back when AVClub was still as clever as The Onion, they would have put the photo of the Worst Person You Know meme up for this newswire bit rather than Schneider’s putrid mug.

I mean, Rob Schneider sucks, but he’s not wrong in this instance. That was a really embarrassing/cringey moment for a comedy show.

I remember an episode where at the end they ask him “How ya doin’ DJ?” and he says “I haven’t said a single word in like a week and no one even noticed!”

They are now a Cousin Oliver and shaggy dog from completing Sitcom Death Spiral Bingo.

Despite the best efforts of...[checks notes]...Twitter randos and YouTube comments sections, the billion-dollar franchise will most likely succeed.

‘a lot of people’? If you want to find some assholes on any topic you can do some searches on Twitter and find them. But you need a bit more evidence to claim that there is a really large number of such assholes out there. Most people out there don’t even care about this TV show coming out.

It’s definitely weird that the older I’ve gotten the more things that I was made fun of for liking have gotten popular. It’s like the opposite of Abe Simpson’s ‘with it’ rant.

Makin’ your way through Middle-Earth Westros today takes everything you’ve got
A child bride and some incest sure would help a lot
Why don’t our eyebrows match our hair?
Sometimes you want to go where all the dragons know your name...

Patties over links any day of the week, this list is incomplete

There can be only one:

Dip sausage in ketchup??? WTF

Agreed, but I’m weird when it comes to murder mysteries.  I prefer to watch them very passively.  I have no desire to dig through clues or easter eggs or conspiracy theories.  It’s definitely a journey’s-more-important-than-the-destination thing for me.

“The show has plenty of charms and offers great roles for Gomez, Martin, and Short, but it’s not always the most compelling show.”

Who knows id Black Adam will be any good, but his call to split the movies was probably the right one. Shazam! is a blast, very slept on. It’ll be fun seeing Zachary Levi and DJ play off eachother.

Random Roles has never felt so much like a “Lightning Round” before.

I don’t have much hope for Black Adam, but I gotta give props to Johnson for seemingly willing this into existence. I feel like he’s been wanting to get in the superhero game for a while and this just finally gave him the opportunity he’s been waiting for so no matter what a hot mess the DCEU or WB as a whole has been

OTOH, as someone put it today on Twitter today, it REALLY seems like The Rock doesn’t want to lose a fight to Billy Batson, which might be a problem?

Warners’ management of all these movies have been a real shitshow, but Black Adam certainly sounds like it’s got passion and a vision behind it, which puts it ahead of a bunch of the fairly soulless stuff that’s made it to the screen so far. (And yes, yes, that’s true of some MCU films, too; it’s not a contest, folks.)

I’m pretty sure the rumours about Schneider’s behaviour are old enough to drink legally at this point.
