If you want a fun rabbit hole, start looking at the 101FC. They look huge, but they’re surprisingly small in a modern context. And who doesn’t love a mid-mounted V8? If you had to pull the engine, it had to come out the side door...
The Series III got wing-mounted lights, although they first started to show up in late IIA production. I’m pretty sure production of those outnumbered the earlier trucks.
Drove this thing from Laguna Seca to Colorado. I forget what time of year, but I went over Donner pass in the snow. At night. On worn race rubber. With no heater and wearing earplugs, because it’s a stripped out caged tarmac rally car. The header fell apart just after Reno, but at least there wasn’t any more snow.

As the guy who DID wash all the mud off that car after the video, be careful what you ask for!
As the driver of both of those cars, I agree. Everyone involved in the XXXocet knew it was ridiculous, but it succeeded beautifully in its ridiculousness.
The FM II powered Exocet is pure, distilled joy on track. It’s a staff favorite.
