This is the winch I have bolted to a 4x4 that slots into my truck bed. It was $20 on sale, is rated for 1 ton and requires no modification to use a drill. A cheap 3/8" cordless will turn it easily, which is good, considering the amount of spinning it takes to move anything.

It’s a neat idea, but I can’t see myself spending that kind of money on one. I can get a harbor freight 2500 lb atv winch, a deep cycle marine battery and a battery charger for less. Less portable? You bet. More versatile? Yup. or if Im lazy and plan on just using it around the shop, a Warn EzPull AC powered shop…

The super low buck option for one of these is a boat trailer winch. We use one every fall to take our 2 boat lifts out of the water and onto shore for the winter months. If you take off the handle, you can just put two nuts together (don’t laugh) and put a socket attachment on the drill.
