I said this in a post the other day about the Marvel Netflix stuff but I am thinking that The Defenders series will basically be the Shadowland storyline from the Daredevil comics 4 years ago or so... just with a possessed Elektra as the villain instead of a possessed Daredevil.

And been played by Norman Reedus.

I think that probably got a pass due to the fact that it was very vague... Dr. Strange is supposed to be the Marvel property that officially opens the “magic is real” door. With Daredevil, there are hints, but nothing that just tells the audience outright that the goings on with ninjas, Black Sky, and the little bits

So much this. Not that comic books have to be super serious all the time, but sometimes the really silly books take characters and basically make them unable to be used in standard comics since they have been reduced to such a joke. I’d love to see another Spider-Man story where Kraven is a bad ass villain but after

So far, so awesome. Any chance they will post the Iron Fist teaser somewhere?

The exciting adventures of young Forest Gump in spaaaaaace!

This has been my one real issue with Marvel... if they want to replace a character, then ok, do it... but stop tarnishing the legacy of the “old guard” to make the new guys look like a worthier option. For some time now Marvel has kept putting out events and storylines that make a number of classic heroes seem like

I think part of the difference with Rhodey taking over for Iron Man at the time was that back then, you really didn’t know if Tony would or could be back. In those days heroes didn’t die or get sidelined only to come back a year later book wise. Also it probably helped that he had been a strong supporting character

That is me right there... I am staying the hell away from Civil War II but with books like Daredevil, Moon Knight, and Black Panther not being interrupted by it I have something to enjoy on the Marvel end of things.

I want to be optimistic... but given Marvel lately I am going to assume it will be that Rider returns corrupted and evil and it is up to Sam Nova to stop him and be the ONE TRUE NOVA DO NOT QUESTION THIS.

I read some Marvel books (Amazing Spider-Man, Daredevil, Moon Knight, Dr. Strange, Power Man & Iron Fist), so there are still some books for long time readers in their mid thirties who are not interested in reading about teenage heroes (like me)... but there is a sense of fatalism reading some of those books. Going to

Is... is it bad that I was kind of hoping that Civil War II would underperform sales wise? I want comics to succeed in general but I was hoping a little bit that this would blow up in Marvel faces and make them back off the damn yearly events and just let their books do their own thing without having to be

For me I don’t rage against the dying of the light when they replace a long time favorite character of mine, foaming at the mouth while typing “THIS WILL NOT STAND” in large letters in a forum, but... I also do not feel as if I owe it to anyone (writer, artist, other comic readers) to give that character a chance and

Yeah in order for Thor to not be worthy, it means he had to have done something... pretty crappy. Which basically teeters close to possible character assassination (which we have all been talking about in today’s Cyclops story). They may not really have an answer, they just wanted to replace the character and have a

Of course the root of the problem is that for writers like Jason Aaron and Bendis, Wolverine has to be the guy who wins the fight, wins the battle, gets the girl, has all the admiration and probably gets a solid gold toilet. And Cyclops gets a nice heaping helping of character assassination.

THIS. Whedon’s Cyclops was the best. He may not be the most popular guy around, but he is the guy everyone turns to to figure out how the hell they are going to pull off the win in the face of insurmountable odds. And then he figures out how. And gets it done.

Yeah it did feel like there should have been more to the Wonder Man story, but in general I really just hate it when writers go out of their way to crap on other characters. I have always been one of those suckers who truly believes that there are good stories to be told with any character from A-list to D-list to

For me Bendis is the definition of a “hit or miss” comic writer. When he is good he can be GREAT but when he misses it is awful. That and when he likes a character he tries so hard to make sure that readers understand that particular character is THE BESTEST EVAR and when he hates a character/characters he goes out of

Maybe he does the smart thing and says “You know what guys? I’m tired of the whole being at each others throats thing from vague philosophical differences. I’ll be over here dealing with actual villains and crazy life stuff. Miles, you coming man? No? Gonna get caught up in all of that divided we stand business? Cool
