The difference is that there has to be evidence and/or a logical reason for A to lead to B. If there isn't any reason A should lead to B but you say it will then it is a fallacy. If you point out an historical trend then you are presenting evidence and not the fallacy.

I think the Slippery-Slope fallacy should be up there too. All too often they argue that whatever science is doing right NOW might be fine, but it will obviously lead to all sorts of evil in the future. Which is a fallacy and dumb.
