The influx of gay people in depressed neighborhoods is the first step in the gentrification process. Once the black people are displaced and the area becomes palatable for developers it is time for the gays to go. LGBTQ people are both perpetrators and victims of gentrification.

I rarely go to gay bars anymore because it feels like any given night is either a) dead or b) bachelorette parties. And I’ll got meet a friend on a dead night and hang out, but that kind of defeats the purpose of it being a social hub.

I knew this 45 years ago when I was watching Saturday morning cartoons. He got that neck scarf directly from Paul Lynde.

It’s a very minor thing, but it occurred to me when reading this that it takes a clever angle for a rom-com that perhaps may not be the unique potential territory of one focused on a gay couple, but one that fits perfectly in one: making an ‘outgoing meets reserved’ relationship where both people are simultaneously
