There are plenty of people who have taken all the precautions who are very sick. We don’t know much about this virus, so proclaiming “you dont need to wash your groceries” is nonsense.

That is how you have to be nowadays

Totally agree. This article is sending the wrong message

This article is bad advice, you should ignore it if you care about not spreading the virus.

Freaking out about washing produce with soap & water and pointing out that soap, if ingested, can cause some tummy troubles is ridiculous.

This article is absurdly irresponsible. You’re not basing your reassurances of safety on any kind of science. The CDC’s 17-day figure is probably exaggerated, however there are multiple studies that have found the viruses viable on various surfaces (like cardboard, stainless steel and plastics) for 24-72 hours. The most reliable advice re. food and sanitation is what was published before the corona craze. Food safety procedures for viruses, and bacteria like salmonella are remarkably similar.

1 - enter grocery store, grab cart and one of the wipes that they’re all providing, at least here. Bleach-based.
2 - wipe cart handle and leave wipe on cart

Regarding Don Schaffner’s post: Physicians MUST understand microbiology in order to take care of sick people.  MDs know a ton about microbiology and how pathogens can become dangerous. We know specifically how to choose antibiotics and antivirals that will work for each condition and each bug, without putting patients

This is one of the most irresponsible opinion articles I’ve read so far (outside of articles and so-called news “reporting”from conservative sources that don’t consider science). This author is a self-proclaimed “science” writer, but what is her actual background? I very much appreciate the video produced by a medical

First, there are also special soaps for fruits and veggies.

Ignore the advice in this article. Stay paranoid, stay safe. The floor really is made of lava.

“Due to an abundance of caution” I shop well before I need to - so tossing non-perishables aside for a few days really isn’t a hassle. I clorox wipe or handwash anything that goes in the fridge/freezer. Anything I get from the outside world is unclean as far as I’m concerned. It’s all infected. My daughter comes by,
