I think it’s because the Big 3 have very little excuses when they put out poor quality or unreliable products. (They’ve been in the game a long time, so they should have ironed out these problems. The COPS problem comes to mind on my 2002 Ford Thunderbird.)
I think the ones with a date with the crusher are pre-production models (which is likely the vast majority of press cars.)
