Fantastic Story David. All the more intersesting as its not an exotic car but just one that means a lot to someome.
On a similar note car designer Bryan Thompson found his families actual 1984 tercel 4wd in a ditch 15 years after selling and he has since done a ground up bare metal restoration. It looks awesome

Back in the late 90's I found a few Mclaren F1 pencil tins at a po-dunk antique store in Idaho Springs. Being obsessed with all things Mclaren F1, I gladly paid the $2 each to grab one of every livery they had.
