That’s certainly possible. I should probably find the dimensions of the thing while folded. Personally, I think they could have fit more there if they just stood them on end.

Heh, if anybody ever says it’s not a real Jag, just show them the repair bills.

I like it better now than I did when it first came out. It’s not for me, but it’s hard to argue with a v6 AWD compact wagon with a stick.

I think the S Type was the one they really loathed, I remember James May going off on it.

It’s still infinitely better than not liking any car.

What do you call a guy restoring an X Type in his driveway? A miracle.

Rhode Island. We spend a lot of time making sure the car we’re booting is the right one, and if there’s any question we err on the side of not-booting it. The only problem we run in to is that Rhode Island reissues license plates...so I had one where the old tickets/plate were on a Honda and the new plate was on a

Keeps the lights on and the family fed, with the added bonus that I get to annoy people who don’t understand how living in a society works. Feels pretty good, Brian. Pretty, pretty, preeeeeeeetty...good.

Keeps the lights on in my house and food in my family’s mouths, plus I get to piss off people like you just by existing? Feels pretty good, Cheeseburger.

Thank god you’re out there making the world a little bit better every day so I can steal the goodness back with my douchebaggery. Grow up, kid.

We tolerate it because if there’s a pothole, you’re not going to personally go out and fill it, the government is going to fill it. And one of the ways they choose to raise that revenue is through having people pay to park. It’s the price we pay for having the government run our infrastructure.

I think it’s a trade off for the convenience of not having to wait for me to come take it off. You can remove it right now and return the boot at your convenience in the next two days, or your car can stay where it is for the next 90 minutes (or all night if you’re paying after work hours) until I can come remove it.

Wouldn’t work in my city. All my boots have a serial number, and since I’m the only guy booting, I would notice a boot on a car that I didn’t boot. Now what it might do is keep you from getting a parking ticket, since the ticket writers aren’t supposed to ticket a car with a boot on it. But I expect you would get

They look like a pretty good device. I’d imagine cleaning the windshield would be part of the install, so you make sure to get a good seal. The boots I use go on in about 3 seconds, and feature the same keypad so they can release it themself. I’d be interested in trying it out to see how it goes.

I personally have not, but I’m sure other people have. I’ve gotten them back mangled, where people tried to remove them before giving up and paying their tickets.

I use a Dodge Caravan, so maybe a bit bigger than that. Still, the boots I use appear to take up less space. I dig the barnacle though, I’d like to try it.

Where I work, you need to have three old tickets to get booted, so the least you could owe pre-boot is $180. Typically when I boot, they owe $400-1000...in a couple of rare cases I’ve booted cars owing over $4000.

Usually about a $100 fee. When I started this job I figured people would just leave the boot there and we would go grab it off the side of the road...making them return it seemed like a hassle to me.

Sounds like you guys just do it differently. You said if you don’t pay your tickets you lose your license, which I actually prefer to what we do...seems easier and more effective. It’s still a form of enforcement, of course, so I get why you guys don’t have a problem with people paying their tickets. Where I work, you

Good points, actually. In my city, the reason they don’t enforce the lost/damaged fee is because the boot belongs to my company rather than the city, so they see it as a civil dispute.
