Tsk, tsk. “I hope you die” is never appropriate. [ETA; am blushing for taking this too seriously! :\ ]
Yasss, & coolll! Been off the market a few years—& am so f-ing old, the girls at my late-90s tween-publishing titty bar gig were required to use concealer on their tattoos—so, it’s cheering to hear that tolerance has made some progress.
That ‘corporate-ish’ may be significant, though? A few of my academic pub co-workers had tats, but at the 4-profit companies, showing ‘em off usually required a trip to the bathroom (university presses, mind, were a whole ‘nother thing ;).
Okay, as a professional, you probably need to maintain some objective distance, eg, just “worrying.” As a 100% amateur, sometimes I find our public memory disorder (short- & long-term) terrifying. It’s worse than that dude in Memento—who at least made notes & tried to analyze ‘em—even well-paid journalists seem to…
Hmmm... love this, but it kinda messes with my 2Pac/Snoop head-canon :(.
Funny you should say that, ‘cause before C-SPAN, the broadcast of Nixon’s Senate impeachment hearings was subject to incessant complaints by Trent Lott et al. They repeatedly claimed that the invasion of TV cameras encouraged Honorable colleagues to grandstand, & distorted ‘due process’ of justice for The President.…
If it is a question of reaching citizens, TV is vastly more effective than audio or print simply because far more people will watch something they wouldn’t necessarily listen to, or even consider reading.
No such thing as being ‘good’ at loss/bereavement. At some point—prob at least once or twice—the loss of someone or some situation is gonna leave you feeling cut off at the knees.
Sigh... you might have answered a question I posed above. At least, it sounds like some Fr/Sor societies do have some things in common with mind-controlling cults :(.
Yuck... So a Frat/Soror membership might be a tiny bit like joining a mind-control cult?
In case anyone else is as lazy as I am, & ‘EMDR’ is just letters to you, too—take advantage of my random burst of energy & viddy EMDR on web.md ;).
Maybe kinda, but not entirely O/T: if anyone has a general interest in Renaissance culture, art, & anatomy (Rembrandt’s Anatomy Lesson, your generic Wound Man &c), The Body Emblazoned is a fascinating read.
Am madly in love with Sad Diaries—& I don’t even have a TV*!
Ohhh, all you young’uns—referencing a show I’ve never heard of—yet nonetheless it truly warms the cockles (which might be ventricles or a species of clam, depending on source) of my heart.
And is proud of her Irish descent—& Eire passport...
Right? One of the myriad reasons I delight in the internet, is that it can entirely free you of TV without losing touch with popular culture. (For some reason have always felt it might be unwise to entirely ignore pop/gossip/’trivia.’ Even while working as a cinema-usher in college, I felt duty-bound to use a couple…
Maybe, ‘yes’ and ‘no?’ At least, since I turned 40, my impression has been that I look way better with less or even no makeup (granted, as someone who’s hopelessly hamfisted w/cosmetics & lacks resources for a Glam Team, I’da been better-off going without all along ;).
Some of us may just have a terminal soft spot for anytone who clearly suffers from depressive disorder? ;).
