That’s the impression I got as well. Unfortunately Marvel never even had a choice in the matter. Sony owns the film rights and they made it a condition of the lease to Marvel that Spiderman be a white straight Peter Parker. I actually thought that starting to plant seeds for Miles was pretty clever.

Several years down…

First of all the generation didn’t go to war, only a small percentage of the population fought or had an immediate relative who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of the reasons we’ve let them go on so long is that so few are directly affected. They bare all the burden and everyone else gets to ignore it.
