I actually really enjoyed My Life as a King. As a game developer myself, one of my projects is a similar game to My Life as a King, but with customizable AI (think of something like the Gambit System in FFXII).

Good point, but I bet they later adapted many spells to use charges to balance the ones they had to have them for? Originally they didn't want it but at some point found it necessary and adapted the balance of the game to center around it.
As I played Command & Conquer back in the day, I always did wonder what it would be like to be one of the little men on the ground, doing the bidding of the all-seeing powers in the sky. Soon we'll all get a taste of that.
