I don’t think Nintendo does e3 anymore, they just run a Nintendo direct at the same time (probably to snub e3). I mean, wasn’t that the case the past two or so years? I don’t really pay too much attention to e3.

Ideally you’re only taking 1-2 rookies per mission, but yes, if you lose a handful of vets, it’s very possible to end up with only rookies to field (or worse, not enough rookies to fill a squad)

In games like XCOM where fresh meat is abundant, permadeath makes sense. It’s really only the one fight near the end of chapter 3 (I think it’s 3) where you’re in a gauntlet of 3-or-so fights back to back, where you end up being allowed to save between fights, but this is finished by an ass-kicker of a boss fight which will demolish you if Ramza isn’t a full-out-asskicker.

A good move is to play seasonal and run your seasonal objectives (which are generally pretty easy, like craft a gem of a particular quality ) which gets you a full set for a class of your choice, making it a great way to get kickstarted as most of said sets are 6-8 pieces.
