I've long dreamed of a 66 DeVille convertible. What a sweet ride, for used Hyundai money.

Al had an early 70's Dodge Dart. Back in the late 80's these weren't classics yet...just a crappy used car.

"Whoa nelly!" indeed - those were great numbers in '93. Although much lighter, the Acura NSX was rated around 290 hp/225 lb-ft IIRC (not spending the 5 seconds to look it up right now). The Mustang GT was around 215/285 (also in a lighter package).

Wow body looks great! For $600, what did it need?

That is fantastic. It combines the styling cues that current-"LMC" is going with and has a look that says "Classic Lincoln". In a dream world, they would take this design and make the halo car everyone knows they need.

Just did a quick CraigsList search and found a number of hardtop 4G Continentals for under $10k. Good thing I don't have that kind of money to spend.

They switched to that horrible hood in 78 so they could fit the V8 in there...I'm fairly certain it was on there regardless of drivetrain. Agreed - $3k for this freakshow is definitely NP.

Hear, hear! Never mess with someone's automobile.

Hmm...I kind of like the Brougham-tastic seats.

Forgive me if it's been mentioned, but my high school car, the flying AMC Matador Coupe!

I'd totally rock one of the Cherokees, the Eagle wagon or even use the Alliance/Encore as a commuter car. That brought back memories of my parents hauling our family of 7 (5 kids) in an '83 Alliance to the Best Western brunch buffet (15 miles or so) on Sunday after church after our 77 Country Squire crapped out. So a qualified NP: I would not buy this car personally, but it's still cheaper than the salvage-title 2006 Fusion stickshift I looked at recently. Within reasonable commuter price range and in decent used car shape. On principle, I would also have to give a NP to a Camry at fractions below fair market value.

Great car, man. 1st-gen Cougar is one of my "bucket-list" cars. I love that it is a driver, too.

Glad I read through the comments before saying the same thing. :-)

I totally agree. It would be a sales and fan nightmare to lose the traditional mustang styling queues. (sarcasm)

Deliver pizza. You'll never get to know your car as well as when you're forced to get from point a to b to c with a time-limit. I learned the handling capabilities of a 1978 Coupe DeVille running the pizza gauntlet and I'm better off for it.

I came here to chew gum, and say this. Good thing I still have my gum.

Really bummed that the IAMAUTO plant in East L.A. didn't make the list. :-(
