Me waiting for the “new Bus” for 20-odd years now...
That Jeep has to plumb the depths of its own history, whereupon it plops the body of one of its least-loved (at the time) creations onto a modern chassis and the result is something infinitely cooler than anything Jeep has offered since the CJ... well, that says it all, doesn’t it?
Maybe I’m looking at this from the…
Ah, I see now that the Drive story states a $30K estimate... for parts only. I have to imagine that labor is gonna be steep, too. Surely that flywheel did some serious damage on its way to freedom (beyond the obliterated bellhousing and dinged-up cat).
I just want to know what the repair estimate came to.
I’ve been a VW fanboi for well over 40 years, but damn if this thing isn’t a swing and a miss. On the other hand, if they were trying to make the most anonymous/boring-looking EV on the market (is it a Buick? A Chrysler? A Toyota?) that is completely mediocre from a performance and feature standpoint, well, mission…
It’s funny, because the dashboard on that DS looks like it’s trying to evoke the dashboard in the early Citroen DS (like my old ‘59) or maybe even the later-style dash in the 1960s. Those cars had no center console.
When I was looking at BMW i3s, the lack of a full console was one of the things I *really* liked about…
I can beat that, Torch. Many years ago, I bought a 2002-ish Park Avenue to daily based upon the generally good reputation of the 3800/4T60E driveline and roominess for me and the child seats that would have to ride behind me. I was aware of the ticking time bomb on that vintage 3800 (plastic intake manifold failures…
This is probably the best thing I’ve seen on Jalopnik in the last five years. It reminds me *exactly* why I started reading this site in the first place.
So the real question for me (and maybe I missed it) is... are you importing it when you’re done?
Signed,
Thanks to platform bloat, this is the modern-day Honda City/Motocompo combo.
Their crossovers and SUVs become particularly entertaining:
At first glance (and never having seen Jerry Maguire), I thought the cargo area was full of Just For Men hair dye. Not sure if that would’ve been better or worse.
Pretty damned disappointing considering that Mercedes did this with the GLK250, what, 7 years ago? They got 200 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque out of a just-smaller displacement twin-turbo diesel with comparable fuel economy.
“It’s a brand that has been fundamentally absent from the U.S. for well over 20 years, and there’s still many people that have never heard of Alfa Romeo … and it just takes time, it takes time,” [former head of Alfa Reid Bigland said back in 2017.] “We’re looking to build great vehicles, great experience and be…
I see an article like this and it makes me think about where the automakers went wrong. Specifically, I think back to the various Volvo 240s I’ve owned over the years and how well the cloth upholstery (not the leather or vinyl) held up, as well as the carpets. Or the old W123 Mercedes, with its indestructible MB-tex.…
I can’t stand Trump or Pence, but it is in fact inaccurate to say that Mackinac Island is a “car free haven” (as one of the tweets stated) or to imply that there are no cars/trucks on the island. It’s also inaccurate for you to say that motorized vehicles are “used during season only for an emergency.” The garbage…
What I am saying is that if Hamilton had to stay out on old tires and one of the other cars (including Perez or Giovinazzi) had the opportunity to pit for a fresh set of softs with just a couple of laps to go, it wouldn’t have been a Mercedes setting the fast lap. It would’ve been the car with fresh tires and a light…
Hamilton, despite not making it past Bottas or Leclerc, nonetheless had the fastest lap today, so it’s hard to see how competition between Ferrari and Mercedes could get any hotter.
Being a long way removed from 10 years old, I don’t know if they succeeded--but I like the sentiment. 10-year-old me was obsessed with drawing C3 Vettes; I hope there are some 10-year-olds today who get the same joy sketching C8s.
I don’t know about vampires. But his accent is definitely a shapeshifter.
According to Lt. Steve Dorris, an investigation is underway. Dorris believes the officer was wearing a body camera, but that footage will not be immediately released because
of the investigationit takes time to doctor the video.
