@472CID: This.
@JaredofLondon: Would you drive me?
@smalleyxb122: My thoughts exactly. Temptation to do something stupid...thwarted by geography again.
Very nice, and a great reminder of a time when utility vehicles had, you know, actual utility.
@jaambo: Awesome—'65 was my favorite year for the GTO...stacked headlights, but predating the coke-bottle styling. My mom had a '68 Firebird when I was born (it was the car I came home from the hospital in) but sadly it was replaced by a VW Dasher (yep...a Dasher) in '73.
1976 VW Bus, chrome yellow with brown leatherette interior, almost identical to the Bus in "Little Miss Sunshine." I remember going to Autobahn VW with my parents to pick it out, and all the soccer games, family vacations, road trips, and family gatherings it took us to. It was the first car I ever drove, at 10…
@Jim Garrison: Very nice.
@FriscoFairlane: I like it too. So thanks for that.
@SantaRita: It can't be the Supra—the B-pillar is different (wider and body-colored). Even if it was a repaint (which isn't unlikely), the Supra's B-pillar isn't wide enough.
@FriscoFairlane: the shape is similar, but compare the B-pillar of the car in the stills and you'll see it's wider and body-colored, so not the 200sx.
Another vote for AE86. The first pic left me undecided whether it was an Accord hatch or an AE86, but the second pic leaves no question that it's an AE86.
Until today, I have never wished that my kids went to Utica schools.
Those are mighty big shoes to fill, and based on what little information we have, I seriously doubt that it will live up to the name.
@FodderTheSane: There was a pretty nice looking Eagle wagon on the Detroit CL for $1000 last week. It made me sad that I already had too many cars in my driveway.
I have a really good track record with $1000-or-less cars as daily drivers. Working downtown, they're great because I don't ever worry about someone hitting my car and they're usually slightly scruffy looking so crackheads don't give them a second look when deciding on a car to break into. No need for the added…
@rognbrow: I wouldn't count on it. After all, until yesterday, it was being referred to as the New Midsize *Sedan*
Looks like a step in the right direction. Now, the important question: Will it be available with a manual transmission?
@studbike: I'm not that surprised by your experience and I'm glad to hear it. After many years of selling VWs, I decided to plunk down my own money on the '02 Passat because of my own observations vis-a-vis the Passat's reliability—overall, it appeared to be much better built than the Golf, Jetta, and New Beetle. I…
