The Ivy bands, at least, usually have about 40 people per game (Columbia and Dartmouth are way smaller), which is a pretty pathetically small

To be fair, Columbia’s football team really really sucks. And since in the stands your band only gets to play when your team makes a first down or forces a third down for the other team, if your team sucks and doesn’t do either frequently the band never gets to play. If I remember correctly, the team hadn’t won a game
