Thank god for the editor note, I thought about this as soon as I started reading. The Alpine does not need more horsepower. The beefier versions were deemed inferior to the base model by many journalists when it comes to fun and driving pleasure. What this car needs is a f*ing stick, not limited editions.

Holly shit, what an insufferable ass. I listened to the whole thing out of scientific integrity but 80% of it felt like arguing about covid with my dad, meaning jumping from one subject to the next as soon as you start getting in the meat of the first subject or giving contradicting evidence.

As you said before: CFD for the win. Or you can do like I did and say “fuck it” to the million design rules inherited from your aero colleagues 20 years ago when simulation were way different, and go work in solid mechanics.

I just realized: you can’t take any liberty regarding mass because you have to account for buoyancy. Mass has to be scaled with volume, therefore divided by 25^3 = 15625

I did too at first. I blame this on my second beer (it’s 10PM here, don’t worry about my drinking).

You’re welcome, although, after thinking about this a little more I wanted to amend my answer but I fell deep in the aero rabbit whole and missed the 15 minute edit window.

In this case you simply scale the speed of the wind by the scale factor. That gives you the proper Reynolds number (which gives similar turbulence on both flows and therefore similar behavious). Typically you don’t care about drag, you worry about the flow nature. Effects of the drag modification can be accounted for

That’s kind of offensive dude. I can’t speak for the UK, but in France we generally don’t give a fuck about exporting cars to the US. Remember we were on your side with Lafayette.

Z4 E85. They look better with the white turn signal but I can’t find a good picture.

If you can find it, try cooking picanha, a Brazilian specialty. It’s the best bit of meat I’ve ever eaten in my whole freaking life. It’s that cut of the beef:

It’s so great to see that Mustang back on the road! Congrats man!

I never named my cars, except for the ‘76 Datsun 280Z I bought as a project. Her name is Daphne the Datsun. It’s fun to say AND “Daphne” was the second most popular name the year she was born manufactured.

“Converting MPa to PSI”? You should be ashamed of yourself! /s

Man you look so happy workking on that beaut’!

Removing the undercoating on a Datsun 280Z. That’s the first task of the restoration process that is really bumming me out.

The fact that they are appreciating really fast now also helps. I bought mine for 16k€ a year and a half ago and now you basically have to pay double here or an unrestored one, so once it’ll be restored it’ll have cost the price of an unrestored one.

Oh it looks great, it’s a real shame the rust was hidden and not treated. That was one of my main fears, that’s why I preferred to go with an unrestored, kinda ratty looking one.

The fact that you aligned the Porsche crest with the valve nozzle, as per official Porsche procedure, tells me that you are indeed one to pay attention to detail.

You are doing god’s work my friend! Anyone trying to keep alive a car that “should be scraped” is a hero of mine. Good luck on the restoration! Do you have a pic by the way?

I’ve seen people on youtube try dry ice with little success, and since I do not have space for a rotisserie, applying ice on the bottom of the car would be even less efficient. I’m going with the trusty wirewheel and angle grinder. I’m making good progress, even if I look like a coal miner after an hour of work.
