If we assume that thing has the Cx of a cube (1.05 which seems fair) and a frontal section of 4m², that means at 56 mph, you need 54hp to overcome drag.

I’ve never seen a quadcopter in this configuration, they all seem to have every rotor above the center of gravity. I’m assuming having a pair of rotors above the center of gravity and another below it can’t be good. Sort of like having a high wing on the left of a plane and a low wing on the right.
Thank you, I was thinking the same thing.
Actually putting the air intake like give a good performance when it comes to flow distorsion aheand of the impeller. It’s kinda what Bell did on the Jet Ranger X.
I’m pretty positive I could identify an air-cooled Volkswagen just by smell
I’m proud of you bud. Good to seen move toward a more sustainable way of life. I’m confident you’ll still delight us with bat shit wrenching story. Maybe one car at a time? That’d be enough for me and better for you sanity.
Glad you enjoyed yourself! I discovered that I’m no natural, as my retired, excentric, unorganized, not-telling-me-when-the-stick-was-mine LSA instructor told me I’m “bad, but you know that, so that makes you careful, so that’s good”.
You guys ain’t free! You can’t chose not to have health insurance!
If you’re not available I’d gladly step in (one can dream). I may know a few other guys as well, including one or two auto journos.
Oh I don’t intend to write a review on the new one, I haven’t had enough time to make an in-depth opinion beyond “it’s a new car, it’s soulless like the rest of them”.
Hey I’m not alone! I bought my ‘04 when I was 26 after having paid off my student debt working as an engineer!
I’m so bummed you weren’t able to come to France. I look foreward to reading more of your adventures!
Good to see the van is driving fine and you being able to travel. We are back in lockdown in France so I guess we won’t have the occasion to meet up this time around. Hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy your vacations!
Hey it’s the Turckheim hill climb! It’s right next to where my grandma lives. I haven’t been there in ages, but it was full of good shit back when I was a kid. I guess that hasn’t changed. Good times.
As a mechanical engineer, I sometimes had to make systems “user-proof”.
The crazy part is that in the US you can drive a 40 year old postal Jeep whose frame is comprised of more welded patches than original metal. It’s a cultural shock.
The modding part is actually rather cool in Germany. In France, you need an authorization from the car manufacturer to put after market parts that aren’t within the exact spec of the OEM. So basically you can hardly modify your car’s performance.
That’s when you create a second business: Ubermech, where you can hire a mechanic with shitty conditions to “allow them to have a side gig” until you figure out the automatic maintenance robots for your fleet. At which point you’ll start Uberbot and the cycle repeats.
