The problem with telling Pelosi to make the midterms a referendum on impeachment is you take candidates like O’Rourke in Texas, Davids in Kansas, and Lamb in Pennsylvania and force them to answer the question directly.

Doesn’t it seem a bit premature and presumptive to worry about Pelosi getting the Speaker position when the (D)‘s won’t get a chance to control the House for another 9 weeks?

But is it? My point isn’t that the commenters don’t have suggestions, it’s the people writing these endless “replace Pelosi” articles never suggest anyone.

There is not a thing she could have said that would have avoided a Splinter article bashing her response. 

Because of political capital. Do you want to focus your time and energy chasing windmills, or do you want to actually govern?

It’s fine if Pelosi considers that an unimportant question right now.

Say you don’t want to focus on the race yet, or that you’ll cross that bridge when we come to it. But please don’t pretend that it’s not an important question.
