I don’t see where I said this is a set of problems that are easily solved, just that they mostly are solved. Nor can I say that I consider our various issues entirely moral failings. At some point in our history, our imagination simply became completely stunted and status quo became preferred even when it’s very

I grew up in the family auto repair shop and then became an engineer and went to work in the auto industry. Oh, did I catch hell from my cousins.

Musk couldn’t run for president if he wanted to... at least not in the US.

SpaceX Elon and Tesla Elon seem like two completely different people, apparently the difference is Gwen Shotwell, he doesn’t have anyone comparable of her calibur as senior Tesla execs it seems.  I admire and respect SpaceX Elon, even though he is still sometimes an asshole.  Tesla Elon I’ve lost more and more respect

I like the car, but when it comes time to go electric, I need to consider cargo space (and somewhat, ground clearance.) I don’t need an off-road vehicle, and I don’t know that I need to continue with SUV’s, but I do need those things. I need to fit a PA system in my vehicle, and a family when it is not carrying

I will admit, the car is gorgeous inside and out...save for the trunk opening. I just can’t get on board with the way it dips down to the bumper. It reminds me of an 80's Cadillac Seville, where the trunk looked like it was chopped off for no other reason than to look different.

“They’re only making a few of these, and they’re only going to dealers as a special reward.” - Sales Mangler at David McDavid Ford in Fort Worth trying to convince me to drive 4+ hours each way to give him “between $15k-20k” in ADP (which, conveniently, was about 15-20% of MSRP) on a GT500 they happened to have that

On Alibaba, they’re offering an appearance package with this fine upbadging:

At last, I have the last ingredient to FINALLY do a proper Automan cosplay.

My frustration is that nearly all manufacturers missed the transition from “manuals are for cheap loser cars only” to “enthusiasts with disposable income want manuals in their enthusiast cars.”

This is so good to read. I’ve been critical of your fleet in the past, but mostly on the basis of how it completely kills your personal life. But I’m also selfish and would rather read about fixing cars that don’t involve 80% rust repair, and the much more frequent adventures you can take with them.

First Impulse says “yes”. Further detail (auto, non-turbo) says “no”.

Seems like a lot of coin for a rather bland and long-forgotten model and brand. Sure, low mileage and good condition, but a forgettable design and not much going on under the hood.

that looks like a school picture from the awkward years

What’s important to me is being able to open an article in Jalopnik without a video autoplaying.

Da fuk is going on in here? Looks like it’s covered in plague blisters.

The Red Lantern used to be a nice place, until they started letting those CHMSL types in. “Oooh, look at me, I’m up so high!” Jerks.

She wasn’t towed to 184, she was towed to 80 or 100 or something high enough for the bikes super long gearing to be usable. They push start most Bonneville cars this way too. Then she rode up to 184 untethered behind the dragster.

Just because your’re rolling on molly doesn’t mean you don’t appreciate a properly executed heel toe downshift, followed by the perfect apex of every turn on the ride home.
