To tag onto this, the idea that one person who cheats public assistance invalidates all people who need public assistance. One welfare cheat = all people are lazy.
I got mad just reading this!
"Real Americans" PSSSSH.
I had one where I was 26 and she was 35 and married. That didn't last, but it was obvious we were in very different stages in our lives.
I love them.* Back when Sackcloth n' Ashes was new, I read a blurb about how the singer/guitarist/main dude was the grandson of a "fire and brimstone preacher" and made many of his own instruments. I picked up the album for free from BMG and I never looked back.
Yeah the singer and bassist died in a van accident on tour, I can't remember if it was before the release, but it was either just before or just after. The guitarist took over vocal duties, and they got a bass player and became Subrosa. I heard one song and it was good, but I never followed up.

To anyone at all: how is that going? I'm not clicking any of the Supper Club stuff, because it doesn't interest me. Also, because the top article at the page all day yesterday was from five days ago, and that seems like cheating on The AV Club's part.
I don't have the depth to make that assertion, but they're damn good!
Such a great voice and so beautiful.
I think they're funny guys, but other than "Clocks", they just don't do anything for me. I'm commenting that this isn't in my wheelhouse, and not trying to disparage other people's tastes.
There were some good one and done releases then, like Lifter's Melinda and Example by For Squirrels.
I'm not as one dimensional as my snarky posts makes me seem. I genuinely enjoy other perspectives, helps one grow as a person.
I have a guy in my FB newsfeed who thinks that Chelsea's apartment is actually a secret Clinton Treatment Facility (tm). I mean, for fuck's sake…

I had a song of theirs from the album before the one The Way on it on a sampler. It was punk, or at least punk adjacent. I liked it, I liked The Way, and the one after that… I forget the name. I never got around to buying any albums through.
They took something like 7 years between albums because of major label shenanigans, which slowed their momentum considerably. Then they broke up for awhile. They're back together now, but what I've heard I thought was underwhelming, with then exception of their cover of The Cure's "A Forest".
