There's a distinction that isn't made clear in the article, but M2 was more completely random craziness, but by they time it was widely available it has turned into MTV2, which had more "programming". On M2 I saw crazy shit I never had heard of before or since.

I remember on our satellite, we had MTV East and West, which was the same but on a delay (duh), but they replaced West with M2 and it was fantastic.
