The entire post is filled with references to Black, American civil rights leaders, yet not one mention of any injustices perpetrated in an African tribe or leaders from those tribes. We both know those exist, so why fill a whole post on American history instead of actually talking about the individuals in question?

Why are you constructing false parallels between the African and African American experience?

I’m sure this woman has no idea she’s being racist. I personally didn’t know blackface was bad until I read about it on American websites.

Why is this not the top comment? Oh right because it’s Jezebel and laughing at other’s ignorance is the most important thing.

She stole all the photographs of tribeswomen from other photographers, presumably via Pinterest (they’re All quite popular on there). She probs hasn’t visited the tribes, or knows anything about them not from Wikipedia.

I would like to have that discussion too. I would like to read that article too as a Hungarian woman of color, but I’m too busy looking at everyone’s super cute dramatic gif war.

There is something very US-centric about responses to this. I’d be interested to know more about how this related to race & Hungarian history.

Could we have an actual discussion, maybe? Wouldn’t it be more helpful to explain to people who might not understand how this is not an appropriate way to draw attention to a worthy topic? Instead of mocking and condemning dogmatically, could we explore the ways that this cause could be better served, and educate one

They have threatened violence, so we can agree, they are terrorists.

Must have missed the day armed occupation of federal property became legal.

I appreciate the levity—and agree that these guys are idiots. But if black people standing peacefully in inclement weather armed only with placards that read “#blacklivesmatter” can be entertained as terrorists by talking heads, then certainly a group of lunatics armed to the teeth and openly stating they are willing

Mr. Burneko, with all due respect I’ve to join my voice to the several other commenters that already pointed that: you’re wrong. Please, stop. I don’t know if it’s just a legit equivocated opinion or something worse, but downplaying what these people is doing is totally irresponsible. It doesn’t matter if their cause

Is there a long history of ARMED black students taking over government buildings? If so, I missed that part of history.

My only counter to this is that, unaddressed, this will continually get worse. The fact that it’s drawing in all the same usual suspects (Cliven Bundy’s kids, Jon Ritzheimer, even Alex Jones is whipping up the “THE GOVERNMENT IS SETTING THESE GUYS UP AS THE NEW WACO!”) just shows that while it’s not a grave threat,

I think their decision to make their stand where they did is strategic and not happenstance. Hard terrain, remotely located, and the ability to see folks coming from far away. I am sure these guys fancy themselves as hard men or they would have chosen something more hospitable, after all they have to get by in

Dude, when your redneck uncle literally takes up arms against the government, yes, he is a terrorist. AB’s whole argument is predicated on “dumbass” and “terrorist” being mutually exclusive, which they’ve never been.

They are threatening literally anyone who aims to remove them from said building. They are not having an overnight at the Rec Center and will clean up and leave in the morning.

“They may be jabronis, but they’re still heavily armed and irrational jabronis, and the threat of violent death is the only thing that might deter them.”

I know dudes like this, and believe me, summary execution is exactly what they deserve. They’re up their asses with a hyper-paranoid white supremacist strain of Mormonism (one that the church itself officially has discouraged since the ‘80s, but remains popular at the grassroots level) that nothing will make them stop

Counterpoint: They are the very definition of Terrorists.
