In terms of “better things to do” remember that politicians DO respond to people complaining. Maybe you think there are bigger fish to fry but the guys who enacted this could be trying to get the same 300 (3000?) emailers/phone callers off their backs.

Exactly this. It’s bad enough that our radiators bang and hiss at top volume when we’re trying to sleep... but we also have to keep our windows open because our radiators run too hot, which means the street noise is amplified, especially if you live in one of the smaller multifamily homes (often closer to street level

Around here it’s every fuckboy in a Focus or GTI. I’d like to sit on my porch and shoot them with my paintball gun as they pop down the hill in front of my house making the dogs go nuts and waking the kids up.

Yup, still have it, of course! Andt it won’t be leaving my hands anytime soon, so I guess we’ll just have to deal with these prices ;)
Luckily enough, the little Peugeot can get pretty good economy, once it’s warmed up.
I now tend to use it only for longer drives, when I know I can get some fuel economy- no town

Yeah, just saw a 3 series BMW with super loud exhaust this past weekend that you can hear loud and clear even on the highway with all the windows up in the rain (which typically drowns out all other noises). Judging by the body mods, it’s likely on purpose and not another victim of a catalytic converter theft. These

Purists didn’t like the Porsche Cayenne too, but that model was so popular it basically saved the company and allowed them to continue making the 911.

If this is the Downtown Denver Skatepark, it’s #11 in a list of seemingly screamingly obvious Don’t Be That Guy regulations:

Your snark would work if there were indeed any actual motorcycle riders in that video. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I love Ferrari, I hate SUV’s, but let’s not kid ourselves: if tall cars with stupid names and weirdly impractical design were the thing back when Enzo was alive, he’d be building and selling them in order to go racing. That’s all that mattered to him. “Purists” don’t like that.

Now playing

Why did you use the potato video instead of the full thing?

No, you sounda pretty mad.

I see you’ve been studying with Professor Torch at his writing seminars.  Good stuff sir.  Making a rather mundane task such as paying too much for fuel into an epic tale of loss and woe.  Thank you, kind sir!

Thanks!

Interesting. I would argue that the (relatively) cheap fuel costs in the US actually contributes to a lot of people’s apathy towards cars. People are less thoughtful about what they buy/drive and don’t think about car tech so much because there is less concern.

I would argue that the inspection climate and, well, weather climate is preventing Germans to daily-drive old machines. Not the price of gas.

dude, what the hell? no one in their right mind fills his car up on the autobahn.

No, it just evolves like everything. Sure we lose the loud engine sounds but you can drop an EV motor into a classic car and make it go like hell. Its just different. Fewer parts even.

I am honestly surprised it took this long to get rid of the bikes.
The Pikes Peak course is just too dangerous.

The organizers could have disallowed any bike over 600 ccs.

They could do a crazy hill climb bicycle race. That would be sustainable.
